Weight loss in the UK is big business and a big money earner for many companies, and are they simply selling you a dream but keeping you tied into lengthy memberships and false promises? Well, the evidence is pointing towards dieting alone does not work. When it comes to losing weight, you have most likely already been to your GP, seen a special doctor, paid privately for a nutritionist or hired a personal trainer… Ever thought of paying for a hypnotherapist? Or is this just mumbo jumbo?
It turns out that using hypnosis is another road people are exploring to loss weight. And typically, it’s used as a last ditch effort to finally fix the mind and help you live the life you always dreamed of. It might even feel impossible that you have a choice over controlling your thoughts, feelings and behaviours…can Hypnotherapy actually work for me? The answer is YES, but with a caveat. It is a common misconception that the Hypnotist will control your mind and get you to be someone you are not. That is simply just television that promotes that idea…(the magic and mystery tours that invite you to believe you can be made to quack like a duck and not remember it).
Can a hypnotherapist change my attitude towards food?
Fundamentally….No. However, the hypnotherapist will work with you in creating a language that helps your unconscious mind heal and change as a result of “you” wanting to change. When you are ready, and feel that change is just a process, being stuck in the same old patterns will simply disappear into the distance. You can STOP living that life, and live a freer, more exciting life style than you ever thought possible.
Does Weight Loss Hypnosis work?
There is some sound research available on the subject suggesting that Hypnosis could essentially be possible. Studies from the 90’s found that people using weight loss hypnotherapy lost more than twice as much weight as those who dieted with out it. A study carried out in 2014 found that hypnotherapy worked with 60 obese women, and showed that those who practiced Hypno-behavioural therapy lost weight and improved their eating habits and body image. Who should try Weight Loss Hypnotherapy?
Simply, those who are ready to commit. If you are seeking Hypnotherapy it is often a sign you want a quick fix, which hypnotherapy is not. But could also mean you are now ready to take the issue of weight loss seriously. If you are the latter then Hypnotherapy is an amazing option. Getting stuck in negative habitual patterns is a sign of a subconscious problem. Hypnotherapy can help with that if other boundaries are held in place.
Weight loss is not easy for some, but good boundaries about the quantity you eat, the types of food you eat, good daily exercise and maintaining solid healthy relationship will go a long way to ensure Hypnotherapy can take effect and last. The point of Hypnosis is that, like any other ‘help programme’ it needs repeating and repeating over and over again until you finally stick with what you believe to be good for you.
Weight Loss Hypnosis works on your subconscious. This is where your mind is on automatic, encompassing your emotions, habits and addictive behaviours. Hypnotherapy addresses the subconscious and has shown that in fact hypnosis had a 93 percent success rate, with fewer sessions needed than both psychotherapy and behavioural therapy. This led researchers to believe that, for changing habits, thought patterns, and behaviour, hypnosis was the most effective method.
Hypnotherapy doesn’t have to be used on its own. Hypnosis can also be used as a compliment to other weight loss programs designed by professionals to treat various health conditions, be it diabetes, obesity, arthritis, or cardiovascular disease. You could read how to create positivity using CBT…
